This slide show on improving interpersonal communication is a little less able to stand on its own than some others, so you have to read between the lines to make sense of some of it.
However it does contain an interesting timeline of how the way we think about communicating between people has evolved, using a timeline diagram (you might have to expand the presentation), plus it offers ideas on how to be a better communicator by planning and thinking beforehand, and through the use of various strategies during communication.
