There are a lot of books and presentations regarding how to deal with or work with difficult people, and no wonder since even a single difficult co-worker or boss can make going to work each day an unpleasant experience. Much of the material is trite and some of it is even wrong, but you'll have to decide if this, and other advice on working with difficult people is for you.

It explains that the reason people are difficult has to do with stress (ok a bit of a narrow view) and it goes on to describe different types of difficult behavior (stalling, the yes person, etc), and provides some advice for dealing with each.

It's fairly good but watch out for the common error of categorizing and generalizing. People do not fall into precise categories, and even people who appear to be similar may not react well to the same techniques. In fact on method of dealing with a difficult person may backfire with someone who "fits" the same category
