Learning Styles Don't Exist (Controversial Video)

I've long maintained that the constant reference to learning styles is, to be blunt, outright stupid, and more akin to a fad. A fun fad, perhaps but one that has gotten in the way of teaching and learning for decades. This is particularly the case for the more popular forms of learning styles which have been embraced by the pop psych. world, but also by people who perhaps should know better -- psychologists themselves.

It's an interesting social phenomenon. In any event the video here, about 8 minutes long contains Professor Daniel Willingham describing research showing that learning styles are a myth. Strictly speaking learning styles are actually constructs created to explain behavior, so perhaps whether they are "a myth" may not actually be the right approach to consider.

Anyway. Agree or disagree, here it is.
